OUR STORY |
The Prentice Organization
Casey’s career is an unusually happy byproduct of the Great Recession. A graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont in the fall of 2009, he entered the work force during a dive in real estate development. Rather than fret, he bartended at night, sold Medicare advantage insurance plans by day, lived with his parents, and in his spare time created the Prentice Organization with a short-term goal of attracting contracting work using components of his education in the urban geography field as well as his LEEP-NC professional accreditation through the US Green Building Council while he pursued a career in commercial real estate development.
Things moved quicker than initially expected: Within a year Casey sourced and closed his first business acquisition using creative financing options to acquire the historic Chebeague Island Inn on the largest island in Casco Bay. Through historic renovations, business repositioning and glad-handing outreach to the local community, he began building his business reputation. Over the years that followed, he grew the company into a diverse entity employing nearly 200 people in the operation of multiple businesses and real estate holdings. His success didn’t go unnoticed: In 2014 he was honored with a Maine Family Business Award from the Institute for Family-Owned Business, celebrating first generation businesses.
Casey’s vision and leadership continue to fuel the Prentice Organization’s growth while his attention to detail leads to positive financial results. Recognizing that real estate development and hospitality are “experience driven” industries, he keeps focus on enhancing the experience of the end user. The strategy has proven a three-pronged success, garnering awards and accolades for Prentice Organization’s operating companies while improving the quality of life of his employees and his professional reputation in the community. Meantime, the company ethos has led to a proven model that has enabled Prentice Organization to grow in a diverse field of businesses from real estate development to a uniquely broad range of hospitality management.
